Call it Artifact 2: Valve is preparing a complete restart of the failed CCI in the Dota universe

Studio Valve is preparing for a complete restart of the failed CCI Artifact. The company promises to tell more about the project after the release of the VR project Half-Life: Alyxto be held next week.

Artifact has become one of Valve’s most notorious failures in the last few years. The project was harassed from the very beginning, and the reaction of most players to its announcement was strictly negative. Exaggerated gameplay, monetization model and much more were criticized.

All this led to a catastrophic outflow of gamers, the collapse of support for the CCI and the departure from Valve of a number of employees, including the creator Magic: The Gathering Richard Garfield. And the head of the studio Gabe Newell in a recent interview called Artifact’s failure a “disappointment” and an unpleasant surprise.

Despite this, Valve decided not to give up and completely restart the game. As the publication reports Edge, inside the studio, KKI prefer to call only Artifact 2.

A little later, the press service of Valve informed that it was starting to test the infrastructure of the CCI.

“Tests should not affect the game itself, but we still decided to warn you. Expect more news after the release of Half-Life: Alyx!” – indicated in the statement.
