Blizzard will cut LAN multiplayer from Diablo II: Resurrected, although promised not to do so

Company Blizzard Entertainment without unnecessary noise removed from Diablo II: Resurrected support for multiplayer over local area network (TCP / IP), despite an earlier promise not to do so.

The fact that the updated Diablo II will lose this function became known from the FAQ published yesterday on the upcoming beta. In answers to frequently asked questions, the developers noted that TCP / IP support will not be available both during testing and in the final version due to potential security risks

“TCP / IP connectivity will not be supported during testing and in the final version of the game. We put the security of player information first and decided to opt out of this feature due to potential risks.”

At the same time, in a February interview with Eurogamer, the executive producer of the project Rod Fergusson said that support for LANs in Diablo II: Resurrected multiplayer will continue to provide players with an “authentic gaming experience.” The authors did not provide specifics about exactly what risks it was decided to abandon this function.

The game will be released on September 23rd. The beta will run on all platforms except Switch, in two stages: early access for pre-customers from 13 to 17 August and an open test for everyone from 20 to 23 August.
