Biped Review | Gamemag

Chinese games continue to go west. New team project NEXT Studios offers owners PS4 and PC (version for Nintendo switch will be released later) plunge into the worlds with a fun cooperative puzzle Bipedwhere you need to control small two-legged robots.

Players take control of repair robots whose main task is to repair lighthouses on the planet. After a short and beautiful screen saver, you need to decide on the mode of passage. Despite the fact that Biped is designed for a cooperative, you can play here alone, but most of the trophies relate exclusively to the joint passage. At the same time, the cooperative works exclusively from one set-top box and does not allow connecting to a friend over the network.

The main mechanics of the game, around which everything is built, is the control of two limbs of the robot using sticks on the gamepad. The first location is a training camp, where they explain the basics of control and give simple enough tasks to get used to the features of mechanics.

The game looks cute and funny. Every time you do something wrong or fall into the abyss, a sad smiley appears over your character. If everything works out, then the thumb pops up.

Players can weave slaps and penalties on each other, as well as try to throw a partner into the pit – this will look very cute and funny, because the location design and atmosphere are extremely friendly. It is impossible to lose. Even after falling from the platform, the character instantly appears on it without any fines. Therefore, Biped is perfect for spending time with children or friends who have never had a gamepad in their hands before.

After you learn to walk, you will be shown the mechanics of sliding, as well as interactions with other objects. All this is done with sticks – you don’t need to press any buttons here.

Tasks themselves at first may seem difficult and cause difficulties due to unusual management, but in fact they are quite simple, especially in the first locations.

The developers have tried to creatively approach the tests. Almost until the very end, you will encounter some new tasks and their various combinations. Somewhere you need to glide along a small unstable platform, stepping over obstacles along the way, somewhere you need to interact with several mechanisms in order to move some object and open the way further. Sometimes get up on the platform with a certain number of legs.
