Apple processors for PC will get the big.LITTLE layout – review

There are fresh leaks on the topic of future ARM processors for computers Apple. According to the slide, which appeared in the leak, the company plans to create its processors according to the big.LITTLE scheme. This arrangement has been implemented in mobile devices with ARM for many years.
The bottom line is that in this embodiment, the processor includes low-power and productive cores. The latter are connected only when necessary, allowing you to save energy. A similar solution exists for Intel – processor Lakefield and future chips Meteor lake.

In addition, the new ARM processors will receive AI accelerators, a specialized hardware unit for video encoding and decoding, as well as a unified memory for iGPU and RAM.

As for the graphics, here the Cupertinos also plan to do on their own. The first step along this path will be the rejection of discrete accelerators AMD. Instead, the company is developing its own line of GPUs, although there is no specs yet.
