Over 340,000 boxed games were sold in the UK during the week ending March 28th. This is reported by the portal GamesIndustry.biz with reference to tracker data Gfk.
The drop was 28% compared with the week before, when the long-awaited release took place. Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The leader of the week was a shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from Activision Publishing House (+ 78% compared to last week), followed by a football simulator FIFA 20 (+ 53%).
Sales Animal Crossing: New Horizons – last week’s absolute start-up record holder – immediately dipped by 81%. Switch-exclusive Nintendo ended up on the third line of the chart. This and all other projects for the Japanese company’s hybrid system collapsed during the reporting week, mainly due to the lack of the necessary number of consoles in stock in the country. According to GamesIndustry.biz editor-in-chief Chris Dring, Switch is nowhere to be found. Of the dozens, even fell out suddenly Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Veteran-record holder of the charts.
In the case of a number of exclusive projects for other systems, among which Forza horizon 4, Uncharted 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn, PlayStation VR Worlds and Sea of thieves, one could observe an increase in sales. This is mainly due to the coronavirus pandemic, against which PS4 and Xbox One bundles began to diverge in the UK with the projects presented above.
