Consoles Xbox Series X / S will officially receive support for the new supersampling technology FidelityFX Super Resolution from AMD. Microsoft spokesperson confirmed in comment for IGN…
“We at Xbox are very excited about the potential of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution technology as another great method for developers to increase frame rates and resolutions. We’ll share more on this shortly.”
According to the manufacturer, FidelityFX Super Resolution is a spatial scaling technique that generates a higher resolution image from each source frame, thereby significantly improving gaming performance over native resolution rendering.
The technology will offer four presets to choose from: ultra-quality, quality, balance and performance, while, unlike its competitor DLSS from NVIDIA, FidelityFX Super Resolution does not use machine learning and does not need special hardware support, due to which it is compatible with a wide range of GPUs, including not only AMD graphics cards, but also NVIDIA GPUs, including the older GTX series.
FidelityFX Super Resolution Appears in First PC Games Already June 22… The availability of technology in the future at Playstation 5 so far nothing has been reported.
