Lebanese-Swedish game designer in an interview with IGN Yousef Fares told about the success of the co-op adventure game A way out his studio Hazelight… According to him, even the publishing house EA did not expect the project to be so successful.
“When I believe in something, no one can stop me. Obviously, no one believed in A Way Out – even EA didn’t expect to succeed, but continued to believe in me. I didn’t give a damn. I thought, ‘Whatever happens “”.
Fares confirmed that A way out sold around the world in a circulation of ~ 3.5 million copies on all available platforms.
“For a small team of 30-35 people, these numbers are crazy. 3.5 million copies sold means that almost 7 million people have played our game. Incredible,” he added.
A way out received quite high marks from critics. The average score on the review aggregators Metacritic and OpenCritic is 78 and 79, respectively.
The next studio project called It Takes Two will also offer players a cooperative playthrough. Its release is expected on March 26 this year on Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X / S and PS5.
