Ruined King: A League of Legends Story will be the first single player game in the League of Legends universe and will be released immediately on consoles – a major milestone for the franchise. How did you come to create such a game and how long has it been in development?
We’re incredibly excited to develop the League of Legends universe and bring this game to both LoL veterans and a whole new audience. We have been cooperating with the Airship Syndicate team for a couple of years, during this period the development of the project was carried out.
Airship Syndicate’s recent experience with the release of a successful turn-based RPG (Battle Chasers: Nightwar – approx. GameMAG.ru) made the studio an ideal candidate for Ruined King: A League of Legends Story and Riot Forge’s plans to produce traditional “finished” games with a clear finale.
What can we expect from the plot? Will the game tell a completely new story or will it be directly related to one of the already famous events in the world of League of Legends?
The story told in Ruined King will be part of the general canon of the League of Legends universe. The game begins after the events of Burning Tides and Spirit Blossom and tells the story of an unexpected alliance of several Champions who have joined forces to solve mysteries and hidden threats. Despite the fact that the storytelling in Ruined King is very interesting, now we cannot tell anything, so as not to spoil the surprises!
How necessary is familiarity with the original League of Legends before playing Ruined King: A League of Legends Story?
You don’t have to be deeply familiar with League of Legends in order to play Ruined King comfortably. For fans of the LoL universe, the new game is a chance to delve into the history of Runeterra and the Champions that inhabit it, and newcomers can use the project as a wonderful opportunity to touch this world for the first time.
League of Legends has been hugely popular on PC for years. During this time, developers from Riot Games have created more than 140 champions. In Ruined King, as we already know, there will be Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Yasuo, Ari and Pike. Will the story only revolve around them? Should we expect completely new champions to appear?
The plot centers on characters such as Miss Fortune, Braum, Yasuo, Ari and Pike. You can play for each of them. As part of the narrative, these characters will interact with each other, building relationships both in the plot scenes and during the battles. At the same time, traveling through Bilgewater and the Shadow Islands, players will surely meet many other striking characters, including both familiar and completely new characters.
Can League of Legends fans expect any bonuses when purchasing Ruined King: A League of Legends Story?
We are now in the process of finalizing all of Ruined King’s content and will be able to share more in December.

Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is a single player game. Users pay once and get access to it. There are no in-app purchase systems.
The game will be available digitally on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), and shortly thereafter on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
We are still discussing post-release support and future plans. We have nothing to confirm today as the team is now fully focused on launching Ruined King.
