One of the main questions that worried players after the announcement Halo infinite, sounds like this: will the game have an open world? Developers from 343 Industries decided to comment on the situation, and the answer is: not really.
As the creative director of the project explained Paul Crockeras you progress through the story Master Chief will fall into new areas of the Halo, which you can then return to for a more detailed study of locations. For this, the player will be awarded new equipment and various improvements.
According to the chief designer Jerry Hook, the task was to make the player not stronger, but to provide him with more opportunities. From all of the above, we can assume that Infinite is a variation of Metroidvania.
Note that earlier blogger Richard Masucci referring to his insider in Xbox Game Studios reported that initially 343 Industries wanted to create a huge open world with the ability to move freely around Halo.
However, in the course of development, the scale had to be cut: now it is not a ring, but a set of several large “islands”. This is done in order to control the progress of players, so you should forget about a full-fledged open world.
