With projects of Ukrainian studio Frogwares strange things continue to happen. Players noticed that at the end of May the game The sinking city disappeared from Steam and Epic Games Store.
On June 27, the studio commented on the situation, stating that it was working to return the project to the catalog of digital stores. However, this has not yet happened.
The strangest thing happened last week. Frogwares Representatives Announce Expanded Release The Sinking City in … EA Origin. In this case, the description of the game does not mention the company Bigben Interactivewho published the game.
Note that the project can still be purchased on the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch consoles.
Ukrainians themselves continue to evade commentary. It can be assumed that the disappearance of the game is somehow connected with the rebranding of the publisher. In February 2023 Bigben group announced the merger of two main areas of activity: the publication of video games under the Bigben Interactive brand and the release of gaming accessories under the brand Nacon. The combined company is simply called Nacon.
Before that, Frogwares had a conflict with the publisher Focus home interactive. Ukrainians initially engaged in development Call of cthulhu, however, the publisher selected the project, passing it Cyanide. In 2014, Frogwares ran to the Bigben Interactive publishing house, and the existing developments formed the basis of The Sinking City.
In the fall of 2019, a new conflict broke out over the rights to Magrunner: Dark Pulse, The testament of sherlock holmes, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments and Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper. Pages with these games in digital stores began to disappear.
With this in mind, the second theory connects the disappearance of The Sinking City with possible claims from Focus Home Interactive, which originally sponsored the work of Frogwares.
