Zendikar is a world full of danger and adventure. His mana is powerful and unusual, which attracts Planeswalkers from all over the universe to him. This is how the description of the world should begin, which was developed as an attempt to bring into “Magic”A little atmosphere Dungeons & dragons…
Back in 2009, players first entered the world of deadly traps, complex mysteries, ancient artifacts and incredible treasures. The world immediately fell in love with the players not only for the atmosphere of “Indiana Jones”, but also for the perfectly implemented game component, becoming one of the most popular releases Magic…
Therefore, it is not surprising that a conditional sequel-return to this world was soon released. But dangerous adventures have been replaced by an almost hopeless, desperate struggle for survival. Apparently, the players liked the setting change, so
a new return to Zendikar was only a matter of time. On September 17, Zendikar Rise became available in MTG ARENA, and today, September 25, it was received in desktop version… And in order to better understand what is happening in the new issue, it is necessary to study the history of Zendikar. Of course, in a rather shortened form, because a great many stories, guidebooks and even a full-fledged novel have been written on it. There will be many names in the text – but such is the well-developed world of “Magic” with many interesting characters who have their own purpose and motivation, forming parallel and intersecting storylines.
Long ago, Zendikar was quite a normal world, except that his mana was quite powerful. Its seven continents were inhabited by familiar peoples and races: goblins, elves, merfolk, angels, minotaurs, a few people. And not the most familiar crust.
Outwardly, they are not so different from humans. The barks are nomadic, and because of this, they masterfully handle hooks and ropes. And among the Coves there are also unusual magicians: litomancers and stone forgers. Litomancers are subject to any form of earth and precious stones. And forgers are able to manipulate the metal in the rock and create weapons from blocks of stone.
Once upon a time, the Koras had an empire called Makindi. As with any empire, the Kora strove to unite all Zendikar under the banner of peace and harmony. And as in any empire, Cora quickly began to spread their vision of peace and harmony to the inhabitants of other continents. To control the entire world, they built seven giant Heavenly Enclaves – fortress cities, each of which hovered over one of the continents.
But like any empire, the Makindi empire fell. In every sense – after all, six of the Enclaves literally collapsed, and only Emeria remained soaring. And millennia later, the Cora Empire became the very ruins to which the detachments of travelers went in search of unthinkable values and powerful artifacts. Dangers on their way also stood up to unthinkable power.
And now we turn to more or less modern history of Zendikar. A little over 6,000 years ago, Nahiri was born in this world, who will be destined to destroy and save her world. We still don’t know how her spark ignited or how Nahiri became a Planeswalker. In addition to the spark, Nahiri also possessed a talent for magic, was a lithomaniac and stone forge.
When Nahiri’s spark ignited, Sorin somehow appeared to be nearby, whose age was approaching 1000 years (with a corresponding level of harm, coldness and contempt). He could kill the girl, but decided to become her mentor and friend (as far as Sorin understands friendship). And their wanderings 200 years later took them into a nameless world, in which they first encountered the Eldrazi. Of course, the world died, Nahiri lost her rose-colored glasses, and Sorin doesn’t care about this world, he needs to protect Innistrad.
Reference: Eldrazi are three (and maybe more) creatures absolutely incomprehensible to modern science, living in the Blind Eternity (space). They have one goal – to devour the mana of the worlds. Three titans (Emrakul, Kozilek and Ulamog) come into the world and create their physical projections in it. And already these projections produce ordinary Eldrazi, acting as one large organism. They completely consume the mana of the world, the world ceases to exist, and the Eldrazi go on. They have no color accessory. Perhaps reasonable. Very reasonable, perhaps. Perhaps mortal.
Then Sorin and Nahiri go to Zendikar to meet the dragon Ugin, who was already smarter than most of the inhabitants of the Multiverse combined. Together, they decide that the Eldrazi cannot be killed. It is not a fact that this can be done at all, and it is not known what consequences await the universe. This means that a magic trap is needed that will plunge them into an endless sleep in one of the worlds. This mission needed a world with its protector and rich mana. Nahiri was opposed, but did not really want to face the forceful methods of persuading the ancient dragon and vampire.
The preparation of the plan took about 40 years. During this time, Nahiri created a network of flying hedrons and covered them with dragon runes. Sorin led the Eldrazi to Zendikar, where the Titans were safely locked up. In case, however, they left a castle, which could be opened by any three Planeswalkers who found themselves in the Eye of Ugin and using the magic of ghostly flame. At this, Ugin and Sorin bowed, promising to come to help at the first call, and Nahiri began her patrol.
At first everything went well. She taught the Kors to keep the prison in order and lived an ordinary life. True, Nahiri did not think of anything better than to tell everyone that the Eldrazi were gods. But gradually, due to her immortality, she plunged into apathy, and then into indefinite meditation.
During this time, Zendikar managed to acquire his own system of protection against the Eldrazi. In particular, the Great Val appeared, capable of instantly changing the appearance of the world, causing natural disasters and even violating the laws of physics. Because of him, elementals, not always friendly, began to appear. In general, the flora and fauna of the whole world began to resemble Australia.
And at this moment events begin to develop rapidly: Nahiri is trapped in a trap after a conflict with an old magician, and the pyromancer Chandra Nalaar and the telepathic magician Jace arrive on her native Zendikar. Now it doesn’t matter what brought them there, but it all ended in a massive brawl and the opening of an Eldrazi prison. Chandra and Jace retreated.
Nissa Riven, a shaman who can sense Zendikar, communicate with his soul, and summon the huge elemental Ashaya, enters the scene. It was she who finally released the Eldrazi titans, and for some reason the titans decided to stay in Zendikar.
Several years later, the best Planeswalkers of the time gather on Zendikar and go to fight the Eldrazi. The plan was simple – to lure the titans into one location and drain all the energy from them. The plan began to work, and against the backdrop of the complete end of the world, Nissa bound the titans and siphoned their energy. It only remained to wait, who would break before: Nissa, Titans or the world. Gradually, however, it became clear that such a connection would bring the end of the Eldrazi and Zendikar simultaneously. But thanks to well-coordinated teamwork, all difficulties were overcome.
That was the end of the previous return to Zendikar. And very soon we will find out the sequel – on September 1, we were shown a new Zendikar, a world that is beginning to heal from the plague of the Eldrazi. Life is reborn and everyone is again full of the spirit of adventure. And yet all seven ancient Heavenly Enclaves rose again into the sky.
And someone (Nahiri) is very generous in sponsoring expeditions to these enclaves. The point is, Nahiri is not very happy with the way peace is being restored. More precisely, the fact that the Great Val and the evil elementals are still alive. At first, Nahiri tried to achieve her goal with the help of Nissa. They went to one of the Enclaves, in which they were looking for the world’s last litoform core – a powerful artifact of the Kors, capable, according to Nahiri, to save the world. But only the key was found. His Nahiri was enough to demonstrate the power of the litoform – to calm the Great Val. But during this demonstration, the elemental Nissa died, and she herself felt that the world did not like it very much. Of course, Nissa could not even force Nahiri to abandon her plan, and the elf left the world and went to other heroes for help.
Nahiri realizes that even she alone is not tough enough to conquer the ruins of the enclave. She decides to recruit herself a team in a guild sponsored by her. The team consists, of course, of a mage, a cleric, a warrior (kor girl Akiri) and a thief (sailor Zareth). Zareth does not want to trust Nahiri with her plan to save the world. He tries to trick her into stealing the key, but Nahiri notices this and now does not trust him either. But the detachment goes on a campaign. Along the way, Zareth makes a plan to steal the core and sell it to anyone who will NOT use it. And Nahiri, demonstrating the power of the key (only a particle of the core strength), saves the life of Zareth, turning a huge predatory beast to dust.
And then we saw the trailer. Nahiri and for some reason only two members of the squad find something similar to the core. Fighting off the elemental’s attack, Nahiri kills Zareth, and then knocks Akiri off the cliff in her path. And what will happen next is known only in very general terms. Indeed, on the maps we are shown the Litoform Engine, which should, in theory, make the core even more powerful. Where it leads? We’ll find out soon.
