Xbox 3DS: Microsoft adapted xCloud for foldable Surface Duo smartphone – here’s what came of it

Company Microsoft updated the game streaming service launcher xCloud for the Android operating system, adding support for a hybrid foldable smartphone Surface Duo

The new version of the application now allows you to use one of the device screens as a virtual gamepad, and the second one – directly to display the gameplay, which turns Surface Duo into almost a full-fledged game console like Nintendo ds and 3DS

The main advantage of a dual-screen device in mobile gaming is the absence of touch controls on the main display, when interacting with which a significant portion of the useful gaming space is blocked on a regular smartphone. If dual-screen or foldable smartphones ever go mainstream, this will be one of the best ways to play Xbox titles through the cloud without using third-party controllers.

Currently support Xbox Touch Control provided in more than 50 xCloud games, among which there are Sea of thieves, Gears 5, Minecraft dungeons and many others. A complete list of projects compatible with touch controls is available here.

The Surface Duo smartphone is priced at 999 dollars, however, neither he nor xCloud is officially available in Russia.
