World of Warcraft Classic introduces layers and prohibits character creation – review

From the very launch of the worlds World of Warcraft Classic company Blizzard combats overpopulation of individual servers. However, the problem does not go away. And this forces the creators to resort to an unpopular measure: the introduction of layers.

According to Blizzard in a special post, numerous actions of free transfer of characters did not lead to a noticeable change in the situation, since players value their social connections more than the simplicity and speed of entering the server.

For the same reason, the company does not open up new worlds: there are no guarantees that the inhabitants of popular servers will move to them. Instead, the team is going to increase server capacity. But for this she will have to take unpopular measures.

Blizzard announced that in a number of worlds there will be layers, the so-called “shards” – copies of locations. At the same time, these worlds prohibit the creation of new characters. They also now can not transfer the hero, even for money.

Layers will appear on the following servers:

  • Arugal;
  • Benediction;
  • Earthfury
  • Faerlina;
  • Fairbanks;
  • Herod
  • Pagle
  • Sulfuras;
  • Whitemane.

As for the role-playing world of Grobbulus, the new characters on it are prohibited, however, layers will not be added yet.

Blizzard promises to keep track of how things will change with the introduction of layers, and to respond if necessary. If the first experience proves successful, then the “stratification” can affect other worlds. So far, players have reported that the lines have almost disappeared.
