Following the testing of Crysis 2: Remastered for PlayStation 5, experts from Digital foundry published similar material with a first glance at Crysis 3: Remastered for Nintendo Switch… The main thing from the preview below.
- The Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 remasters for the Switch were developed primarily by Saber Interactive in Sweden. The same team was responsible for the re-release of the first part;
- Unlike the PC-based remasters of Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 for XBO and PS4, the Switch was based on the ports from the X360 and PS3. The changes are not as big as in the re-release of the original Crysis, but compared to the PS3 / X360 versions of Crysis 3, the improvements are clearly visible;
- Saber replaced SMAA T2X anti-aliasing with TAA, which virtually eliminated pixel artifacts, ladders and flickering;
- DF didn’t go into the comparison, but it’s already noticeable that the level of detail has become noticeably better. Increased grass density and improved sky rendering. Also added SVOGI real-time global illumination;
- Dynamic resolution, up to 900p in docking mode;
- Crysis: Remastered’s 31fps limitation issue has been fixed. The target frame rate is 30 FPS, and even under load the Switch provides reasonably good performance. The only drawback is unstable framing, due to which there may be a feeling of microfreezes and drawdowns, even if the refresh rate is on average 30 frames per second;
- Digital Foundry has been testing the gold master version of Crysis 3: Remastered, which will go to print on cartridges, but a Day 1 patch is in the works that should bring additional improvements.
Crysis 3: Remastered will release as part of an updated trilogy this fall on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X / S, PC and Switch. Owners of the remaster of the first part will be able to buy both sequels separately.
