Windows 10 can no longer install drivers from the Internet via Device Manager

A recent optional Windows 10 update (Build 19041.423) removed a rather popular option from Device Manager. We are talking about the function of updating drivers via the Internet.

By default, the system offered two options for searching for drivers – automatic and manual. The first method allowed new drivers on the Internet, including on Microsoft servers. However, this has now changed.

From now on, the Device Manager will be able to find and install an updated driver if the user has bothered to download it to the computer in advance. In this assembly, the Manager’s access to Microsoft servers and the global network is blocked in principle.

This is part of the company’s efforts to eliminate duplicate applications. Now only the Settings application can be used to update drivers from Microsoft servers.
