The insides of the system have been subjected to careful and open analysis many times, and the production Series X even somewhat slowed down due to the desire of engineers to wait for the implementation of new technological solutions from AMD… On paper, no one has any doubts that Xbox series x remains more productive than a direct competitor – Playstation 5… However, testing of a number of projects from the first wave often demonstrates the opposite results – games on Playstation 5 show themselves from a more attractive side.
Technical team Digital foundry already managed to conduct my own tests of some games from the starter lines Playstation 5 and Xbox series x, arriving at somewhat unexpected results. In terms of dry power, Microsoft’s console boasts 12 teraflops of performance, while Sony’s device offers 10.28 teraflops. Wherein Series X also has higher internal memory bandwidth and more compute units compared to PS5…
However, using the example of the action Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition this difference is reflected only in the fact that the Xbox Series X manages to win only a slight advantage in two graphics modes, while the option with increased game performance shows a completely different picture – the frame rate on PS5 keeps at consistently higher values, often outstripping the competitor by as much as 40 frames.
Such jumps in the number of frames per second can be easily noticed by even the most unassuming users, feeling noticeable slowdowns in the overall smooth picture. If you have a screen with variable refresh rate (VRR) support, framerate dips are not so critical, but when it comes to such a large frame loss, it becomes very difficult to ignore it.
