Despite the emergency situation with COVID-19, Yasuda believes that the demand for gaming will remain at the same level. According to his forecasts, the next-generation console from Sony will be sold in the amount of 6 million units until March 31, 2023, and from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2023 another 15 million PlayStation 5 will be shipped.
As a result, total sales of PS5 by the middle of spring 2023 will be 21 million copies.
It was believed that the PlayStation 5 is losing Xbox Series X in terms of marketing, its filling is weaker. At the same time, Sony is in no hurry to make gaming announcements. However, the analyst believes that this will not affect sales, which will largely depend on the appearance of the device, so it makes no sense to compare both systems at this stage.
On the other hand, if the console is white (apparently, Yasuda is repelled by the colors of the DualSense controller), this will become a big problem, the expert believes. Say, it will not cause interest among adult buyers, since the original Nintendo Wii was not warmly received by older core players (apparently, no one showed the analyst the sale of white Xbox 360 and PSOne, – approx.
