“VR is no longer needed”: New mod for Half-Life: Alyx turns the game into a traditional shooter

Since release Half-Life: Alyx exclusively for virtual reality devices a considerable part of fans of the cult series from Valve, who did not have a VR headset at her disposal, began to expect the appearance of a modification that would allow playing the project using standard keyboards and mice.

Soon after the premiere of the game, enthusiasts made a modification proposing to go through Half-Life: Alyx without a VR headset, but it was very superficial and felt rather peculiar.

Only now thanks to the efforts of fans saw the add-on that turns Half-Life: Alyx into a traditional first-person shooter. It also contains all the weapons from Half-Life 2 and disables some of the mechanics present in the VR version, such as the ability to teleport and pick up ammunition using telekinesis.

At the moment, this modification is the best option for those who want to get acquainted with the plot of the game. However, it is worth considering that even in this form, Half-Life: Alyx still loses most of its unique gameplay features – everything conceived by the developers can be evaluated only with a full version for VR headsets.

You can download the modification in the description of the video on YouTube.
