Company Immersive VR Education Ltd., engaged in the development and release of educational content for augmented and virtual reality devices (Apollo 11 VR, Titanic vr), published a financial report for 2019, where it made several interesting predictions for itself and the VR industry as a whole. The publisher, in particular, believes that this year the company Sony will launch a new version of the headset Playstation VR.
“In 2023, Sony will release PlayStation 5 and the new version of the PlayStation VR headset (PSVR), which will further expand the user base of high-end VR devices. Our company intends to support the device with a modern showcase of its own software.”
Sony’s comments and patent registration clearly hint that there will indeed be a successor to the PlayStation VR, but before that, the company said it had no plans to tie the release of a new generation of helmet to the launch Playstation 5. It is likely that instead of a full update this year, the manufacturer will limit itself to a slightly improved model of the original headset, especially since the current version of PSVR will be fully compatible with the new console.
According to recent estimates, the total sales of the PlayStation VR exceed 5 million units – currently it is the most popular VR helmet in the world.
PS5 launch scheduled for fall.
