Valve talks about changes in the initial deployment of heroes of Artifact 2.0 – review

Developers from Valve shared the next details of the updated version of their collectible card game Artifact. This time, the authors touched on the placement of the first three heroes and creeps, which were randomly placed in the initial version of the game.

The Artifact field still consists of three lines, but each of them will have exactly five cells. The position of each cell is fixed, so players will not move anyone if they add a creature at the edge of the line.

Before each round, a creep swordsman is placed on each line in the leftmost free cell, and during the first round, the characters are placed in three stages.

  • Stage 1, center line. Both players choose one of three heroes. The hero can be placed in one of the three central cells on the line. Heroes and their locations are revealed simultaneously.
  • Stage 2, a complex line. Each player chooses a second hero. One player places him on the first line, and the other on the third. Heroes and their locations are revealed simultaneously.
  • Stage 3, light line. Now players place the last hero on the light line, where the enemy sent the hero at the last stage.

In the second and third rounds, the player still places one more hero, as well as heroes who return from the fountain. In subsequent postings, there are no restrictions on where heroes can be sent.

Additional placement rules:

  • Placing a hero on top of another hero will knock one to the fountain, and he will be able to return in the next round.
  • Placing a hero on top of a creep will destroy the creep.
  • By playing a creep card, the player can select the cell in which he wants to place it.
  • Drawing a creep on top of a creature will destroy that creature.

Finally, the developers noted that the armor works differently than in the initial version of the game, and that the health of the towers depends on the game mode.
