US gamers spend more than $ 10 billion in Q1 2023

According to the estimates of the analytical firm NPD GroupIn the first quarter of 2023, gamers from the United States spent a record $ 10.86 billion. This is 9% more than for the same period last year.
At the same time, sales of video game content reached $ 9.58 billion, which is 11% more than a year earlier. The growth was observed in the segment of digital sales on consoles and PC, spending on mobile and subscription services, as well as in the categories of hardware and accessories.
The most successful games for the first quarter were Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Doom eternal, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Fortnite, Grand theft auto v, Minecraft, MLB The Show 20 and NBA 2K20.
The NPD Group notes that the growth in sales of the Switch family of consoles and games for it helped offset the decline among other platforms. The iron segment grew by 2% to $ 773 million, while sales of video game accessories, including gamepads, headphones, cases and other peripherals, increased by 1% to $ 503 million.
