National Museum of Entertainment The strong in New York added a new selection of projects to his Worldwide Video Game Hall of Fame. This year, the collection of the most significant and influential games has expanded with four titles, including a puzzle Bejeweled (2001), an arcade shooter Centipede (1981), adventure King’s quest (1984) and the sandbox Minecraft (2009).

Bejeweled
Created in 2001 as a flash game, Bejeweled is the first mobile title added to the collection of the World Interactive Entertainment Hall of Fame. The game popularized the three-in-one genre and as of 2013 has been downloaded more than 500 million times. 12 years ago, Entertainment Weekly called Bejeweled Gone With the Wind from casual games.
Centipede
Debuted in 1981, Centipede from Atari was an arcade shooter in which gamers were asked to destroy an insect moving around the screen in zigzags. The game was created with the participation of Dona Bailey – one of the few female programmers of the 80s, which helped to attract a large number of fair sex to arcade machines. The game later appeared on many different devices.
King’s quest
Adventure King’s Quest, developed by co-founder and designer of Sierra On-Line Roberta Williams, became the first graphic computer quest with music and was honored to get into the World Video Game Hall of Fame for his enormous contribution to the development of adventure projects. The first acquaintance of the players with the fantastic world of the fictional state of Daventry occurred back in 1984, after which Sierra released seven more sequels.
Minecraft
Since its release in 2009, the sandbox from Swedish game designer Marcus Persson and Mojang has become a true gaming phenomenon. Millions of people around the world create their creations and even entire worlds in Minecraft, some of which amaze with their scale and the amount of work done. Last year, the total circulation of the game on all available platforms exceeded 176 million copies.
Among other applicants for the addition to the Hall of Fame were also Frogger, Golden Eye 007, Guitar hero, Nba jam, Nokia snake, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Uncharted 2: Among thieves and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?. In the future they will be able to be nominated again.
Last year, the World Video Game Hall of Fame was replenished with Solitaire Solitaire (1988), the Colossal Cave Adventure text quest (1976), the Mortal Kombat fighting game (1992), and the Super Mario Kart race (1992).
