Ubisoft has updated the terms of the user agreement – some points left the players at a loss

Yesterday, fans of company games Ubisoft the next time you start your favorite project, you might notice a window stating that the terms of the user agreement have been updated 12 May, and now you need to adopt a new set of rules that applies to all services of the French giant. It would seem that this is quite a common practice, and at such moments almost no one pays their attention, preferring not to read the infinite number of paragraphs and subparagraphs. However, this time, it is still worthwhile to familiarize yourself with the list of conditions.

So, gamers found that new user agreement Ubisoft includes a number of unpleasant moments. Firstly, in the window itself, offering to agree to the new rules, there is immediately a rather strict clarification – if you are not satisfied with what the company wants from you, then you can instantly permanently close your account.

Some of the most critical innovations are hidden behind 8 paragraph user agreement rules. Namely, it clarifies that Ubisoft reserves the right to block your account after the administration discovers “reasonable grounds” to believe that you have violated one of the rules. Also French company warns that during its investigation, it may ask you for an identity document.

Besides, you may lose your Ubisoft account simply because it has been inactive for more than six months. In this case, however, the company first sends a warning.

It was the 8th paragraph of the rules that caused the most discussion on the network, but after learning about it, players began to criticize other foundations. Some of them are new, others are old, and some have recently undergone a slight adjustment.

“The Ubisoft agreement makes me feel like a slave – there are no rights to buy, and they can ban for anything,” one of the commentators on Reddit notes.

  • AT paragraph 1.3 it is specified that all content and services that you receive in Ubisoft services are distributed under a limited, personal and non-transferable license provided to you. In other words, a special emphasis is placed on the fact that you do not fully own the content for which you paid, and the corresponding license can be revoked at any time. Of course, in such conditions there is nothing new, they are found everywhere on a variety of digital platforms. But this point is worth keeping in mind.
  • AT paragraph 2.5 it is specified that you cannot have multiple accounts in the servicex Ubisoft. In this case, the company notes can make an exception in certain cases. However, by signing up for a new user agreement, you agree to either delete your secondary accounts, or you may encounter the fact that Ubisoft reserves the right to block your alternative accounts without warning..
  • AT paragraph 5.3 Ubisoft provides a partial list of misconduct, which can be followed by penalties up to ban account. So, you are not allowed to register accounts using knowingly false information, including email that does not belong to you, incorrect date of birth, and more.
  • Following is a clarification about your profile name and avatar image. It is forbidden to use words and pictures that may contain or mention profanity, sexual references, expressions of a hostile mood on any basis, indulgence in terrorism, fascism, child abuse, religious or political connotations, or may potentially lead to contradictions or disagreements.
  • An interesting point is the ban on impersonating another user. For example, by choosing a similar nickname, or posting comments that can confuse other members of the community.
  • The following is a ban on quite familiar things: insults, harassment, intimidation, including including trolling, flaming and spam. However, from time to time, the list is supplemented with several unexpected clarifications. According to the rules Ubisoft, Now you are forbidden to use various in-game errors and bugs that may give some kind of advantage. It is noteworthy that we are not talking about third-party programs, namely, that the application itself allows. Also users are not allowed to engage in so-called stream sniping, in other words, take advantage of players who stream content, for example, by finding out during the broadcast where your opponent is located in the location.
  • Important points concern various manipulations with your account. So, you should not resort to the help of third-party programs that allow you to violate regional restrictions, in order to gain access to any content, or, say, start the game ahead of time. Of course, buying, exchanging, leasing an account is also punishable by potential blocking.
  • It is important to note that the conditional ban is not the only method of pressure on the user. At the discretion of the administration, instead of completely blocking you can do with a warning, partial blocking, zeroing progress in a particular game, weaning from certain parts of the service (for example, voice chat), and so on.
