Twitch protests hit streaming viewers

Authors of the protest under the hashtag #ADayOffTwitch (“A Day Without Twitch”) are trying to draw the attention of the organizers of the platform to the online attacks of users, which are exposed to different streamers. This occurs most often in relation to issues of race and sexual orientation.

With their protest, the participants expect to speed up the reaction of the creators of Twitch, who cannot cope with the flow of such attacks, as well as spam. To achieve this, streamers refuse to broadcast on the specified date – however, this movement has not been supported by all content creators.

But, even with the support of a couple of big names, the peak of concurrent viewers on the platform “sank” – it was about 3.5 million, which is 1 million less than the day before. This is the only time in the week that the metrics failed to surpass 4 million concurrent views.

Earlier, the organizers of Twitch announced that they are going to strengthen security measures on their site, but so far they have not been introduced.
