Honey’s Anime has released an updated list of ten sad animes that are perfect to watch if you want to have a good cry or just dive into a touching story.

10 – Violet Evergarden
Violet is a young girl for whom war was the raison d’être. But when peace comes, a completely unfamiliar universe opens up in front of the heroine. Now, when Violette works in the postal service of a large port city, she has to gradually get used not only to a new way of life, but also to simple human feelings.

The fateful meeting brings together two unlikely heroes – the wandering merchant Kraft Lawrence and the strange wolf girl Holo, who is called the real goddess by the locals. The story of schoolgirl Naho Takamiya, who receives an unexpected letter – a message from a future version of herself. In the text, the heroine finds not only a reliable description of events that have not yet occurred, but also a number of important parting words, the main of which is associated with the new student Kakeru Naruse.
7 – Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
At the center of the story are the brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are deprived of their bodies during an unsuccessful alchemical ritual. Trying to correct the mistakes of the past, the heroes go in search of a powerful artifact – the philosopher’s stone, along the way, finding themselves drawn into a global conspiracy.
6 – The City I’m Not In / Boku dake ga Inai Machi
Satoru Fujinuma is a 29-year-old mangaka with a fairly ordinary life. Once the hero realizes an amazing thing – time itself is subject to him, thanks to which he can return to the past. Finding himself in a difficult life situation, the hero returns to his childhood, where he tries to correct the tragedy that has already happened, simultaneously opening the veil over the long-buried secrets.
5 – March Lion / 3-gatsu no Lion
Teenager Rei Kiriyama has an extraordinary talent for playing shogi, but behind a mask of external indifference, the young man hides deep trauma and emotional instability. The three Kawamoto sisters and their noisy family should help him overcome the crisis, but the path to growing up for Kiriyama may be more difficult than it seemed at first glance.

Having lost his once close friends, Dzinta Yadomi turns into an ordinary recluse. The old adventures are replaced by four walls of a safe room and the same video games. However, the situation completely changes when the real ghost of the past comes to Jinta – the long-dead Meiko Homma, asking the hero to do the almost impossible – to fulfill the promise made many years ago.

A cult historical drama from Studio Ghibli, which tells the story of the tragic fate of the young man Seite and his little sister Setsuko, who lost their parents during World War II and tried their best to save their lives.
