Today the developers from the studio Hangar 13 posted on the network 14 minutes of gangster action gameplay Mafia: Definitive Edition, which is a remake of the cult game Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven 2002 release. At the same time, there was a lengthy interview with the developers, in which they talk in more detail about their project.
From the very moment of the announcement Mafia: Definitive Edition fans of the original had concerns about the overall structure of the remake. Despite the vast world, the classic “Mafia“was a fairly linear game, divided into large-scale tasks with significant emphasis on the narrative part.
In turn, many modern open worlds, including the recent Mafia iii, follow a slightly different philosophy – they offer huge sites for adventure, where, in addition to the main plot goals, there is also a mass of secondary content, which can be spent many, many hours performing.
And, as it turned out, Mafia: Definitive Edition will not deviate significantly from the canons of the original source and will focus on its strengths – plot, atmosphere, and narration, while the city Lost Haven to act precisely as a decoration for all these elements… It has not been expanded from the original and will not offer a map in the spirit of modern Gta…
In this case, the game will retain the modes Free ride and Test Drive, assuming the usual travel to the game locations, isolated from the plot and any clear goals.
Release Mafia: Definitive Edition expected September 25 on platforms Playstation 4, Xbox one and PC…
