“There’s just nothing to talk about”: The developers explained why they were in no hurry to support the Google Stadia cloud platform

Google stadia so far it has not achieved much success and universal recognition. One of the key reasons is the very small number of games available for the cloud platform. From conversations with developers, it turns out that Google simply does not want to spend money in order to get more new projects to its library. She negotiates with major publishers, who are also in no hurry to transfer each of their games to Stadia, and for small teams she now has nothing to offer.

how informs portal Business insider, many independent developers interviewed explained that one of the main reasons why most high-quality indie projects stay away from Stadia is the lack of financial incentives from Google. One of the representatives of the publishing company called the amount of money that the technological giant offered them, so lowthat there was simply nothing to talk about further.

Another indie developer described that often large platform owners, such as Microsoft and Epic, make incentive payments to developers and publishers so that they create and release games in their stores. But according to the same specialist, in the case of Google Stadia these incentive payments “… virtually nonexistent”.

The developers emphasize that they are ready to release games without incentive payments, as it happens in the vast majority of cases on Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft consoles, and also on a PC on Steam, however, for this, Google Stadia must have an active solvent audience. Now Stadia has neither an audience, nor Google’s initiatives to attract content authors through financial payments that can at least cover porting costs. As a result, the circle closed.

To support Stadia “for thanks” in the hope of a better future, the authors of the content are not eager because they do not yet fully believe in the long-term commitment of the technology giant to the platform. Many mentioned that they were worried about the future streaming service, given how Google dealt with dozens of its unpopular products.

Currently, the Stadia cloud gaming streaming service boasts a library of only 28 games.. And despite the fact that this year Google promises to release about 100 projects for the platform (which is much less than the number of releases on Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and PC platforms per year), a picture emerges from the material from Business Insider that developers are afraid to work for Stadia .

The next major release for Stadia will be DOOM Eternal.

Google previously said that she will need time to implement the “large-scale and bold” concept of Stadia.
