In the credits of the series “Witcher“, Released on the channel Netflix, the work of the team of scriptwriters and of Andrzej Sapkowski himself, who wrote a mountain of books about Geralt of Rivia, was noted. But a small detail was forgotten: Sapkowski wrote his books in Polish.
So far, French has sent a letter to Netflix headquarters and the channel’s Dutch office offering an out-of-court settlement. He wants his contribution to be credited to the show. In addition, the translator is demanding compensation for copyright infringement – but he calls the amount “symbolic”.
David French became the official translator of the Witcher saga in 2013. Before him “Last wish” and “Sword of Destiny”Translated by Danusya Stok, and these books formed the basis of the first season of the series.
But now events are moving on to other parts of the book series, which Lauren Hissrich herself proved by publishing a photo of her working materials: books of the publishing house Orbit in French’s translation.
