Last night a japanese company Sony officially announced its decision not to participate in the exhibition E3 2023, despite the fact that at the end of this year will be the release of the long-awaited game console Playstation 5. Instead, the platform holder will focus on “hundreds of small fan events.” Many believe that the Japanese are preparing a PlayStation Meeting event, which will be dedicated to the new console, as was the case with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
Soon after Sony’s announcement, the head of the gaming division Microsoft Phil Spencer on twitter confirmed, what Xbox team will be present at E3 2023 and is now intensely preparing for its participation in the main gaming event of the year.
Well, now the organizers of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in the person of the association made their own official statement Entertainment Software Association (ESA):
“E3 is a landmark event celebrating the video game industry and showing people, brands and innovations that fundamentally change the entertainment loved by billions of people on our planet. E3 2023 will be a fascinating and extremely energetic show where new experiences, partners, exhibition spaces, activities are waiting for you and programs that will bring joy to both new and regular visitors to the event.The interest of participants in our new activities attracts the attention of brands that consider E3 as unique ty to find a common language with video game fans worldwide. “
Not surprisingly, the ESA issued a similar statement. It was difficult to expect anything else in this situation. Despite the absence of Sony, the success of the E3 2023 will largely depend on the ability of the ESA to attract other partners and participants (for example, Google, along with its cloud service Stadia), as well as contacts with various large publishers that have been the stronghold of E3 for decades.
