Journalists GameSpot prepared a comparative video of the original and the remaster Mass effect, where side by side most of the frames of the fresh reissue trailer were compared with the computer versions of the original releases.
In some screenshots, you can see that BioWare even in Mass effect 3 was not limited to the usual improvement in the quality of textures – for example, Liara’s pupils were reduced, and the geometry of some parts of her equipment became more complex.

And the textures of the model of Admiral David Anderson for the remaster were finally able to load – in the original, including the third part, they were of very low quality.
Otherwise, most of the improvements are noticeable in the first part – but it is not surprising. Based on many screenshots of the original, BioWare changed the type of armor materials in the first Mass Effect. In addition, by the way, Ashley also had her eyes reduced.
Also, for the first part, the cinematographic videos were redone, thanks to which they became much better.
In general, it is noticeable that for the first part, the developers have seriously worked on the materials – Saren’s equipment has become much more realistic.
And in some scenes, there are much more effects – when you first approach the Citadel, it is now shrouded in smoke.
Among other notable innovations, it is worth noting lighting – now the characters in the frame are more often additionally “highlighted”. This feature is likely to become one of the most controversial in the community.
The new lighting is also noticeable in the scene with Grunt from Mass Effect 2. The young krogan is now fully illuminated, as is the back of Shepard’s head. But the detail of the character has grown noticeably – look at the hands.
Zayed, like Anderson, had low-quality textures in the original – in the remaster, the injustice was corrected.
Garrus in Mass effect 2 and it looked so good, but for the remaster it only improved the textures.
In Mass Effect 3, Shepard has clearly improved the detail of the costume, and also worked on the environment.
And this scene, which already looks good in the original, just got even better in the remaster.
The Mass Effect Legendary Edition launches May 14 on PS4, Xbox One and PC, with some backward compatibility improvements awaiting PS5 and Xbox Series owners.
