In the latest issue of the English magazine Edge, the creators tried to reveal more details of the upcoming game. In particular, it turned out that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be presented as a new generation project and will be released on the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
The German developer describes the game as “an adventure stealth action game with intriguing split personality mechanics, gigantic levels and aesthetics inspired by the sketches of Tolkien himself.”
Gollum’s adventures will begin in the fortress of Mordor Barad-dur, where a mutilated creature is held captive. After the escape, players will see the expanses of Middle-earth: the authors promise “giant locations – each with its own environment – they contain several quest lines and a number of friendly and not so characters.”
In addition, Daedalic is gradually exploring the capabilities of next-generation consoles.
“I just read about the rumors regarding the Xbox Series X specifications, and the system is really powerful – it has very fast flash memory,” Martin Wilks told reporters. “Of course, this is interesting to me, but I don’t think that it will somehow affect our project, since we also strive to release it on PC. Nevertheless, it sounds like a dream has come true, especially for level designers, since we no longer have to worry about loading corridors. ”
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC in 2023.
