Japanese company Sega unexpectedly announced Virtua Fighter x eSports Project – return of the legendary fighting game series Virtua Fighter… As the name suggests, we are waiting for a project that is being created as another cybersport discipline.
The debut trailer can be viewed below.:
“Virtua Fighter was developed as the very first 3D fighting game back in 1993. Now we are relaunching the series for the realities of esports and the Japanese market, along the way celebrating the 60th anniversary of Sega,” – said in the announcement message.
Taking into account the above quote, we can assume that the new game will first debut in Japanese arcade halls and only later will get to other platforms.

The last full release in the series today is Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, released in 2010.
