Public launch of the cloud service Google stadia took place more than six months ago, now the platform has 30 supported titles. One of the largest projects is, of course, Western Red dead redemption 2 from Rockstar games and publishers Take-two.
As part of the recent 2023 annual Bernstein Strategic Decisions Conference, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnik shared his thoughts about the cloud platform Google and future plans to support it.
“The launch of Stadia turned out to be very slow. It seems to me that there was some misunderstanding amid big promises regarding the true power of this technology, as a result, part of the audience remained in frustrated feelings,” Strauss Zelnik said in his speech.
Other industry leaders had previously shared similar rhetoric, and the strong disappointment of many Stadia users can be read on any relevant social platform. Nevertheless, Strauss Zelnik noted that he considers the “cloud future” a very likely development scenario, so his company will continue to provide high-quality streaming initiatives in the future.
“Whenever you post your content on new platforms, you potentially open the way to a new audience. That is why we have supported Stadia with three of our games and now we plan to support similar high-quality services and beyond. At least as long as this business -model will seem viable.
I believe that over time, streaming will still reach its peak. However, the conviction that this form of content distribution will enter our life tightly, based solely on the assumption that there are many potential players who simply do not have proper gaming systems, seems to me somewhat wrong, “Strauss Zelnik concluded.
In addition to RDR2, Take-Two has released a shooter on the platform. Borderlands 3 and sports simulator NBA 2K20. Today Google stadia keeps expanding recently was announced about the June line of projects for premium subscribers.
