The first tests of Apple computers on proprietary processors – review

A few days ago Apple She said that she was preparing to move to her professors in branded PCs and laptops. And today, software developers began to receive the Development Transition Kit (DTK). And, of course, the first test results appeared on the network.
According to the first tests in Geekbench 5, the novelty roughly matches Apple MacBook Air 2023 with processor Intel Core i3-1000NG4. In this case, a laptop costs $ 1,000, and a kit for developers – 500.
In numbers, the results are as follows: DTK with Apple A12Z scored 833 points in the single-core Geekbench v5 test, 2582 in the multi-core test. Apple MacBook Air 2023 with i3 – 1064 and 2136, respectively. And the version with i5 is 1200 and 3500.

Characteristics of the Developer Transition Kit are as follows:

  • RAM: 16 GB;
  • disk drive: 512 GB SSD;
  • external ports: two USB-C and USB-A, as well as one HDMI 2.0;
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi wireless adapter;
