A new rumor indicates that one of the elements that will highlight the game against the backdrop of SoulsBorne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be the design of the world.

User with nickname Omni, who in the past proved to have access to InsideSoftware insider information, said that Elden Ring’s game design is a big improvement over the Souls series.

According to the informant, the terrain structure of the new game was inspired by Scotland, and the open world, or rather, the “open field”, as described by its insider, was created with an eye to Shadow of the colossus, whose authors managed to perfectly convey the sense of scale. Wherein many elements of the world, such as the location of enemies, will dynamically change on their own, like systems related to weather and the cyclical change of day. However, the developers did not completely abandon small locations in the spirit of Dark Souls, so the diversity of the environment promises to be high. There will be many enemies too, and opponents will become much smarter and will be able to come up with complex strategies to kill a player.

“As a person who is not a fan of most openworld titles (especially AAA) of recent decades (including BOTW), I would say that if you are in the same boat as me, then you have nothing to worry about in terms of how FromSoftware designs its “open world,” and that’s the reason they turn away even from calling it “open world,” moving to the concept of “open field.” This designation indicates greater openness compared to past games and at the same time keep themselves away from popular mercilessly exploited open-world trends and, at the same time, they are not limited to this formulation: “.
