However, the plot of the third film was not entirely about the main team. The original characters are more likely to play secondary roles that train the next generation of hunters. The new heroes tried to please the youth. The main one, Frankie, is described as “Punctured punk from New Jersey” – quite in the spirit of that time.
The main team members left her, and Dr. Peter Venkman appears in the final scenes as a ghost, dying somewhere behind the scenes. They did so because Bill Murray, the performer of this role, repeatedly refused to participate in the project and agreed to withdraw only a couple of days.
But the film never came out. For many years, on the franchise there were only cartoons, comics and games. However, in 2016, the series was not very successful rebooted by Paul Fig, and the next part will be released only in 2023 – it was postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
