In celebration of the 11th anniversary Minecraft sandbox developers have announced a small rebranding of their group of studios. Now she called Mojang studios, whereas earlier it was called Mojang ab.
According to the team, the transition to a new name and an updated logo can more fully reflect the fact that the popular game is currently actually the work of many studios from around the world.
Mojang studios brings together teams Mojang from the hometown of developers Stockholm (Sweden), Redmond (USA), Shanghai (China), Tokyo, Japan) and London (UK), where separate units have been based and operate for some time.
The press release does not mention the standalone 4J Studios studio in Dundee, Scotland, which has been developing console versions of Minecraft. Currently, work on them is gradually being rolled out in favor of the cross-platform version of Bedrock.
“We are entering 2023 as a multi-project and geographically distributed company,” Mojang writes in an official press release.
“After the release of Minecraft Earth and Minecraft Dungeons, we plan to release a feature film, prepare an epic live show, and play up ideas for brand new games.”
