The car will pretend to be your friend in games on the PlayStation: Sony has registered a new interesting patent

Company Sony filed for registration a new curious patent. This is a system that will track, study and memorize the behavior of players in multiplayer projects, so that later they can effectively simulate their activities if the user leaves the game prematurely.

In other words, the idea is to potentially get rid of situations where, when one of the players is disconnected, for example, in a cooperative game, further progress becomes impossible or difficult to achieve due to the weak artificial intelligence of the bot-replacement.

The description of the patent reads as follows:

“When the first player participates in a multiplayer game, his actions are recorded and saved. When this player leaves the session or becomes inactive, his role is replaced by a system generated on the basis of previously received information, and it makes decisions and actions based on the behavior patterns of the first player. Thus, the game session can continue uninterrupted, while maintaining the game style of the original user. “

The patent has a detailed documented structure and principle of operation. However, how, exactly, when and where the system will be implemented has not yet been reported.

This is probably something that Sony considers as one of the features of the upcoming Playstation 5. On the other hand, it is important to understand that not all patents find practical application.
