In addition to The Butcher’s Circus, the heroes will have a special version of skills, class balance and various other combat mechanics. They will not apply to the main Darkest Dungeon campaign.
We will not see the fighters from Crimson Court or Shieldbreaker on the selection screen if these add-ons are not purchased. However, in PvP battles it will be possible to meet them. Inexperienced players can choose the option with bots – over time, they will be introduced for offline duels.
By releasing The Butcher’s Circus for free, the studio wants to persuade more players to buy the main game – as well as add-ons if they want to see special heroes in the roster. And its development and release will not affect the work on Darkest dungeon 2.
