Cinema Foundation refused to allocate state aid for the production of the film adaptation of the novel Dmitry Glukhovsky “Metro 2033“.
In May, the filmmakers, along with other domestic films, presented their projects to the organization, but only 10 films were included in the final list of films selected for support. Among them:
- John
- Pied Piper
- Kraken
- Master and Margarita
- Righteous
- Feat
- Russian five
- One hundred years ahead
- Khoja Nasreddin
- World champion
According to Glukhovsky’s script, Metro 2033 will be directed by Egor Baranov, who shot “Gogol” and “Outpost”. They planned to spend 700 million rubles on the picture and invest another 150 million in marketing, but, perhaps, now the budget will be cut.
The release of the painting is scheduled for January 1, 2024… The first draft of the script has already been written, and filming should begin in December.
