German tabloid BILD toldthat chinese Tencent wants to buy a studio Crytek (Far Cry, Crysis, Hunt: Showdown) for $ 354 million.
However, here speculation begins that the conglomerate is primarily interested in buying game developers because of military contracts – they create all kinds of simulations for various Western armies, and a Chinese company wants to “spy” for its government.
A similar view of the situation embarrassed analyst of the Chinese market Daniela Ahmada, who doubted that Tencent would buy a game developer to spy on Western countries.
In general, Ahmad noted that Crytek has indeed been actively discussing the possibility of a takeover lately – but it seems that so far such conversations have not led to anything.
