According to the developers’ statement, Tales of Arise represents the next major evolution in the long-running role-playing franchise Tales of Arise.… In the new game, the developers have tried to remain faithful to the legacy of the series, but at the same time to refine its various elements, including the visual component and gameplay.

For the Tales of Arise graphical shell, Bandai Namco specialists were able to implement a special system “atmospheric shaders“that give the game’s visual appeal a special mood and accents, giving it a unique stylized living drawing. The same technique is used to create many unique locations-biomes that the characters of Tales of Arise will visit during their adventures.

In terms of gameplay, Tales of Arise also boasts a noticeable development, especially with regard to the combat system. A distinctive side of the battles will be the greater involvement of the player in various gameplay mechanics and subsystems, as well as increased control over the character, which is characteristic of many modern RPG action games.

The setting is based on two parallel worlds – the star Rina and the planet Dana. For centuries, the Rinians have ruled the Danians with a fierce hand, in fact, having enslaved all the inhabitants of the planet, gradually devastating its resources. But the balance of power can be very shaken after the Danish Alfen, by the will of fate, begins to fight for his people, and Shion helps him – a girl from Rina, hiding from her own compatriots. An unexpected union of two heroes will result not only in an amazing adventure, but also forever change the fate of two worlds

“It was important for us that Tales of Arise marks the next step in the development of the entire Tales of franchise. In the new game, we chose a fresh visual style, making the most of the power of the Unreal Engine and the shaders we created, which made the picture look expressive and similar to the real painting. …

At the same time, players will find a much more mature story that touches on many important topics and ideas, which somewhat distinguishes Tales of Arise from previous installments of the series. I hope that the audience will enjoy the adventures of Alfen and Shion with great interest. Our team is looking forward to when gamers around the world will be able to touch Tales of Arise this fall, “said Yusuke Tomizawa, Producer of Tales of Arise.
