Switch mentions new dock with firmware update and 4K support in system update

Dataminer OutmealDome found in the 12.0.0 update released yesterday for Nintendo Switch references to a possible Pro version of the console, rumors about which have been actively circulating for several months.

In particular, we are talking about the appearance of new parameters in the files “is_crda_fw_update_supported“and”4kdp_preferred_over_usb30”.

Users suggested that the first stands for Cradle Aula and indicates the possibility of updating the firmware of the docking station, which will come with the new Switсh model… Cradle is the internal name of the console dock, and Aula – the code name of the next Switch revision mentioned in the January leak.

The second line probably indicates a display port with an image output in 4K and support USB 3.0

According to the latest reports from Bloomberg, the new Switch will get an updated NVIDIA chip with a more powerful processor module and an improved graphics subsystem that supports 4K and DLSS. Also, the console should get more memory and a larger 7-inch OLED display, and some future games may not appear on older console models.

Nintendo has been slow to confirm rumors, but the company’s plan is reportedly to unveil the Switch Pro shortly before launch. According to insiders, the announcement of the updated console will take place in 2023, and the release is either at the end of this or in early 2023.
