Star Wars Episode I: Racer review

Film “Phantom menace“many consider one of the most controversial in the saga George Lucasbut at the same time he presented one of the most spectacular scenes in the history of the franchise “star Wars“It’s about the hearth race on Tatooine, in which the young slave Anakin Skywalker gained freedom and the opportunity to start training as a Jedi. No wonder this moment turned into a game.

Star Wars Episode I: Racer actually became my first Star Wars game. At the same time, she was the most playable of the slag mountain that hit the gamers in the late 90s.

The easiest race can be described as Wipeout in the Star Wars universe. We have several game modes, a bunch of tracks and several pods to choose from.

The main mode is tournaments, divided by difficulty levels. Winning races, players will be able to discover new transport options, as well as earn currency.

Money is needed to improve your racing unit. There are two possibilities for improvement: buy parts in a store or in a landfill. In the latter case, the details will be cheaper, that’s just the effect of them will be worse.

The races themselves were made according to the “three circles for victory” scheme, however, it was due to the Star Wars Episode I: Racer gameplay that stood out from the competition.

What is under? Two rocket engines that are connected to the repulsor cabin. Each of the engines has its own margin of safety. If the damage is serious, you can sacrifice speed by starting the repair process. However, if the rider does crash, then respawn will occur and the race will continue.

In addition, the races themselves are quite dirty: you can “butt” on the track with an opponent using forbidden tricks. True, due to high speeds this happens quite rarely, and the main opponent is precisely the track.

The addiction to the gameplay takes place on the track “Riot Yves Classic”, but the imagination of the developers was not limited to Tatuin. There are Malaster, Mon-Gazza, Ando Prime and so on. At the same time, the tracks come across non-standard: on one of them there are sharp elevation changes as a result of which the engines beat on the ice, on the other – the sash shutters, which are constantly in motion. On the third problem will add a segment with zero gravity.
