With an exit Playstation 5 a new era of Sony home consoles has kicked off this week. At the same time, the company is slowly beginning to say goodbye to PS4: it became known that soon the manufacturer will stop servicing the previous generation set-top boxes in authorized service centers in his homeland in Japan…
The news was shared by the Japanese Twitter account PlayStation Support. He clarified that the company will no longer accept requests for repairing PlayStation 4 series only CUH-1000 and CUH-1100, i.e. the first two revisions issued in 2013-2014… It will happen after December 25, 2023, while sending the console to the service must be in time before January 8, 2023…

The original PlayStation 4 went on sale in Japan three months after North America on February 22, 2014. Sony later updated the PS4 lineup with Slim and Pro versions. Their maintenance will continue for some time.
Edition Kotaku contacted Sony to clarify if this will affect console service in other regions, but has not yet received a response.
