Sony told in her official blog about the compatibility of peripheral devices for PS4 with a new generation console. Which of the existing accessories will work with PS5, read below.
- Specialty Peripherals: Officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks and flight controllers will work with PS5 games and supported PS4 games.
- Platinum and gold wireless headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via USB or audio, will work with the PS5. At the same time, Sony emphasizes that the headset companion application will not be compatible with the PS5.
- PS Move motion controllers and PlayStation VR aim controller will work with supported PS VR games on PS5.
- The DualShock 4 Wireless Controller and Officially PlayStation Licensed Third Party Controllers will only work with supported PS4 games.
“PS5 games will not support the DualShock 4 controller as they must take advantage of the new features and functionality we provide, including the DualSense wireless controller functionality,” said Isabelle Tomatis, SIE Senior Director of Sales and Licensing of Peripherals and PlayStation VR.
The PlayStation Camera for PS4 will be fully compatible with PS5 and supported PS VR games. A PlayStation Camera Adapter is required to play and will be provided to all PS VR owners for free. Information on its receipt will be announced later.
Additionally, Sony has pointed out that not all officially licensed or third-party PlayStation peripherals and accessories will work on the PS5. The company recommends asking the manufacturer about the compatibility of certain devices with the PS5 and specific games.
