Sony banned God of War creator from PSN over Ratchet & Clank jokes

Company moderators Sony temporarily blocked in PSN creator account God of war David Yaffe… The game developer announced this on his YouTube channel a few days ago.

The ban will last until June 26. According to Yaffe, the reason could be a short video that was recorded during the passage of the game. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart… Creation Insomniac Games he considers it “classic”.

David was especially amused by the dialogue between the Lombax girl Rivet and a caged pirate robot. The prisoner advises the heroine not to covet his booty (booty, which can also be interpreted as “butt”). Rivet responds with the phrase “No chance.”

Yaffe published a six-second video, which was jokingly titled “Rivet – lesbian? Yep.” However, it was also seen by other PSN players by watching videos on the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart page on PS5.

The video became trendy. Apparently, the moderators found the comment offensive and homophobic. The developer himself considers the joke harmless and claims that Rivet has become one of his most beloved playable characters of all time.

Sony might not have liked Jaffe’s other video. It is dedicated to a conversation between a robot Whale and Ratchet… The first states that she is inspecting the factory and how “it is white” (meaning cleanliness and sanitation). David ironically commented on the scene Twitter

“Ratchet is a fantastic game? Sure. But I’m really surprised at how racist it is. It’s amazing they went this route,” he joked.

As the developer emphasizes, there can be no racism in a child’s game from Sony, and the comment was simply absurd. Therefore, the harsh reaction of the moderators of the platform holder to the jokes of the players can be extremely bewildering.
