Sony adds PlayStation 5 support to Remote Play, but hasn’t updated the app on PS Vita

Company Sony along with the release of the new firmware for PS4 updated the application Remote playThe main innovation was the addition of support for remote play of games with Playstation 5

A new opportunity appeared both in the desktop version of the program for PC, and in the mobile version for Android and iOS devices. The name has also changed – now the application is not called PS4 Remote Play, but simply PS Remote Play.

According to the update note, after the update, Remote Play also received a function that allows you to use custom button assignments made on the PS4 or PS5 in remote play mode, but at the same time it stopped supporting the Windows 8.1 operating system. Another innovation concerns owners of devices with HDR support – when streaming pictures from the new set-top box, you can enable the high dynamic range option, while the maximum resolution remains at 1080p.

In addition, unlike PS4, PS5 Remote Play does not support frame rate selection, which we understand means that the app will always stream the game at its maximum stated speed.

Remote Play app for PS Vita not updated. Apparently, it will be impossible to play PS5 games from a portable console
