A few days ago, Polish insider Boris Nespelyak spoke about a possible reason for the transfer Cyberpunk 2077. According to him, the delay in release is due to the poor performance of the project on the current generation consoles and the basic version of Xbox One in particular, where the game allegedly works “extremely unsatisfactory”.
Soon, the creator commented on the information. God of War Corey Barlog, noting that in reality things are such that almost all games work poorly until, at the final stage, before sending the project to print, the developers optimize it for the target hardware. Barlog’s statement was later supported by CDPR senior quest designer Philip Weber. He noted that messages in the spirit of “Cyberpunk 2077 delayed due to the Xbox One” do not reflect all reality.
“Corey Barlog got to the point. Naturally, we optimize the game for the Xbox One, and for the PlayStation 4, and for the PC – this is what they are doing at the last stages of development. While the game is being created, many things remain unoptimized, as they all keep moving, changing and not fully completed.
Therefore, such simple answers in the spirit of “They postponed the game because of X” may be good as rumors, but they do not carry the whole truth. There are always many reasons. Among them, this I speak for myself: the usual correction of errors, so that the game looks as polished as possible. Do not look for any hidden motives in this, we are just working to make the game better. “
