“Scum, why did I pay money?” Steam users pissed off GTA V giveaway on Epic Games Store

Part of buyers Grand theft auto v at Steam negatively reacted to the news about the free distribution of the hit from Rockstar games in the shop Epic Games Store. Soon after the start of the action, the number of negative user reviews in the GTA section on the Valve site increased sharply. At the same time, not everyone who is dissatisfied is in a hurry to underestimate the game’s rating – they express criticism even in positive responses, which are many times more.

Opinions were divided among those who were disappointed. Some PC gamers say they want to see on Steam more of these actions with the distribution of major hits. They point out that usually Valve partners offer to download “indie useless” for free.

Another category of players believes that giving away blockbusters for free is generally wrong, as other gamers had to pay for them, and a lot. The result is a “dishonest situation.”

Still others are just angry at the fact that the distribution at the Epic Games Store began abruptly, just a day after they bought Grand Theft Auto V on Steam for money. Criticism in this case is directed at both Valve and Rockstar Games.

Finally, another category of gamers fears that due to the influx of people with free copies of GTA Online, it’ll drown in cheating, and the servers will start to slow down significantly.

At the time of writing negative reviews, many players spent tens and hundreds of hours in the Steam version of GTA V, some more than 200-300, according to the counters on the page.

The free giveaway of GTA V on Steam will last until May 21, 2023.
